My first year of college has been fun...
However, College is a huge step from your high school year
to the college life. College changes you for the better. Being far away from
home and not being able to see your parents every day like you use too, makes
you become more independent.
Once you learn how to become independent, then your 4 years of college would seem like its flying by.
College is terrifying in a way because now that your first
year is over, you just have three more years then you’re an adult paying bills
and going to work and trying to be stable in life. Yet, Reality doesn’t kick in until
move in day your first year of college. My whole high school years I was always
thinking about going to college. Then when the 4 years of high school passes by
you realize your standing on stage about to get your diploma, then reality starts to set
in.
But, college
changes you as a whole let me tell you why….
Your intellectual
interests and valued friendships change as a result of your personal development
through the college years. Being able to manage your emotions, time,
friendships, homework, relaxation, partying, and being able to eat is sometimes
difficult. Too much of one can make you fall off with another. I feel like a
college is a weighing scale where you have to weigh everything out so your taking
care yourself and making sure that you don’t have any mental break downs as
well, because they become very common in college.
Mental breakdowns as well as home sickness are things
college students go through but we get through it.
When you’re in college your interest change, the people you
hang around you change and you soon realize that you only have about 1-4 best
friends in college that actually are your “best friends”. Then you have the
ones in your hometown that are upset that they are seeing a change in you but
you don’t see it.
You start to see that you call your parents more then you
ever did. Many are so quick to get away from their parents but then when you’re
in college, you miss them so much and how they used to always be there for you
physically and emotionally.
After your freshman year, it’s like getting over a huge hill
because after that college becomes more easy to cope with some people don’t make
it over this hill but that’s how college tests you, your ability to go into a
new environment and be able to become independent and to become an adult.
My first year of college has changed me and will continue to mold me through out the remaining years.
I completely agree. I've learned more in my first year of college than I did all four years of high school. All I have learned has caused me to change, naturally. You realize things you didn't realize before, and you go through so many experiences you thought you'd never go through. These experiences cause one to alter your way of thinking because of what you've been through; it's bound to happen. I'm excited to see how I develop in these next three years of college.
ReplyDeleteCollege has changed me also. It has made me mentally and emotionally stronger. It is totally different from High School. We were forced to go to school and be in class but in college you a'rent. Its your responsibility and you have to have a will to be there. It tough but it changes you so youre ready for the real world.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on this. ALL of the people I hung with back at home always seem to find a way about telling me how much I've changed. Honestly I think I just found people I could trust more and relate to and it let me out of my shell because people back at my hometown have no real goals and ambition to fulfill their dreams. My friends at college have made me realize what I really want and how to chase my dreams while also having fun with life at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI agree as well, college has made me feel very lost and alone at times. Especially when I first started, but it has also made me so much stronger and made me realize the importance of strong friendships and self determination.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you too. College has been full of lesson learned. Freshman year has been great at times, but also made me realized who is really in my corner when I need them. I have made some great memories already, and some great friends who I can tell will be my friends for ever. I'm excited for the next three years.
